Christina Aguilera On EW Celebrity Downfall List

Contributed anonymously:

Christina Aguilera, along with Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, and The Osbournes were listed as one of the fallen stars in the “Down Time” section of Entertainment Weekly’s Power List 2003 issue. They said of Aguilera: “Speaking of said lip-lock: Declining record sales are one thing (Aguilera’s last album, ‘Stripped,’ sold fewer than half as many copies as her blockbuster debut), but when you go on MTV and make out with and nobody even notices (yep, she’s the other one who got kissed that night) something is seriously amiss with your career.”

Whatever..who cares? I like her music and her shows are great. oh but this list changed my mind and I now look at her as a has-been. LONG LIVE EW!

This downfall list sounds like a joke to me.. it seems they forgot to take into account that albums sales for just about everyone has fallen since Christina’s first came out (thanks to net swapping) . I don’t know about anyone else but I consider an album that goes triple platinum a “blockbuster” and a major success. By the way, Stripped is the 4th top selling album in the UK this year , we will have to wait a couple of months and see where it charts in the US 2003 album chart but my guess is it will be in the top 5. Besides who subscribes to Entertainment Weekly, they should put themselves on the downfall list. But they are right about Madonna, that last album was embarrassing.

That is the truest thing I have ever heard! Christina fans will have fun with this but you can not deny the evidence!

“but when you go on MTV and make out with Madonna and nobody even notices (yep, she’s the other one who got kissed that night) something is seriously amiss with your career.” Oh my god, right ON! No wonder Christina (and ‘all’ her fans) are so bitter all the damn time…People were saying Britney was over and she’s come back stronger than ever in my opinion, we’ll just pretend to care and wait to see if Christina can do the same.

This list is dumb…all of those people (whether I like some of them or not) haven’t “fallen.” Especially Christina. You can’t go by album sales anymore with all the file sharing going on.

This is the exact same thing they did to Britney. After they realized that ‘Britney’ didn’t sell as much as the first twp records, they were like ‘Oh, she’s over’ and Britney had it worse because she had to fend of the likes of Avril Lavigne.

No her fans can’t stand hypercritical like Britney fan base. Not only but I personally like a artist who is talented. The last time who the hell care about a damn kiss. Its seem that probably Britney highlight of her careers, that the only reason why you fans get excited for it. No Christina has a career to look forward too. She doesn’t have time to sit around worry about about why she wasn’t notice. We all know it was PR stunt pulled by both Britney and Madonna people.

LOL.. as we all expected to happen! she’s played out.. but I do like her music and will continue to buy her future albums despite the fact that she’s just trash with a good voice…. although I would never pay to see her in concert or even look twice if I saw her somewhere… I like her music only when there is no relation to her involved except for her voice.

  9. perfectly-imperfect says:

LMAO, and Christina’s ‘people’ weren’t involved in this publicity stunt? She was in the kiss too, have her own fans even forgot? Talk about f**king hypocritical. And I also like artists who are talented, and who are you to judge what ‘talent’ is? Just like beauty, it’s in the eye of the beholder. Like I stated before, you seem bitter.

This is sad. But Christina definitely isn’t over. She’s pandering to the worst stereotypes out there, and selling herself out, but she’ll learn. That girl has staying power because of her undeniable talent. Record sales for *everyone* has been shot down. Just wait for Britney’s CD sales to prove this same point: I think she’ll do well, but sales will be far, far worse than her first two albums. Christina is here to stay. I don’t like the fact that she’s incredibly fake, but I have faith that she’ll learn. And I like her voice.
