Christina’s Attempt to Steal The Spotlight Causes Fan Backlash

Justin Timberlake had ‘Cry Me a River’ and now Christina has her Blender Interview. It seems that everytime an artist wants attention, they go in the same direction. This time however, Christina has not only attacked Britney Spears, but Beyonce Knowles of Destiny’s Child as well. The preview for next month’s Blender magazine reads: “What does it take to become Blender’s woman of the year? For Christina Aguilera, a fearless approach to record making, a goor pair of assless chaps and a refreshing eagerness to talk trash: About MTV, Beyonce and Britney, Britney, Britney. ‘These people aren’t artists!’ she roars, ‘They’re just…..fake’.”

After years of taking the high road and being respectful, she took it upon herself to lower herself to the levesl of artists such as Kelly Osbourne and Pink. While Christina may see her mouthing-off as a good career move, it’s proving not to be. As expected, Britney and Beyonce fans are very upset by the comments. But what wasn’t expected was the reaction of her fans, many of whom have said that they have lost respect for Christina.

Fans from Christina message boards are severly disappointed, saying things like “I honestly hope that it was a misquote and what she said wasn’t really specified towards those two artists! Christina’s comments is only going to make her sound like she is jealous! If Christina did after all really say this, then I must say that I think it was a bad career move.”

The more typical responses have illusrated a loss of respect. For example, a fan by the name What-Christina-Wants said, “If there isnt reasoning behind her comments then I will have lost a lot of respect for her. honestly.” One shocked fan wrote, “I never thought Christina was the kind who would put fellow artists down unless she was provoked first. So yeah, if the comments turn out to be just that, it is very baffling to me.”

Perhaps Christina is upset with Beyonce’s recent success, as Beyonce’s two single have both been #1 on the billboard charts while Christina’s have struggled. Or perhaps she remains bitter over the fact that her involvement in this years unforgettable VMA performance between herself, Madonna, Britney, and Missy Elliott proved to be, forgettable. Whatever the reasoning, Christina has lost her the respect of many people, including her own fans. Maybe it’s time that Christina learns that trying to build yourself up by putting others down is not a smart move.

If Christina really had the integrity she claims she have, putting others down wouldn’t be necessary. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?
