Clay Aiken Fans Inflate Search Interest On The Lycos 50
December 18, 2004 – While the Lycos 50 chart of top search queries shows Clay consistently in the top 5, and at #2 this week, deeper evidence shows that the singer is not nearly as popular online as that list indicates, pointing to the ‘American Idol’ season two runner-up’s faithful fans artificially inflating his search interest. Clay’s most popular song was the seasonal ‘Merry Christmas With Love’, followed by ‘The Way’. His most frequent misspelling was Clay Akin with 4,748 searches, followed by Clay Aikens with 2,384 searches.

They then talked about his Christmas CD, his nearly year-long Christmas making the album and rehearsing for Christmas specials, his plans for the holidays, talking to the conservative republican show how he works his faith into his public life, and more. The interview audio clips at SteveandDC.com have since been removed.
