Clay Aiken Joins ‘Spamalot’ On Broadway Beginning Friday

‘American Idol’ season two runner-up Clay Aiken is joining the Tony award-winning musical ‘Monty Python’s Spamalot’
in the role of Sir Robin, kicking off at Broadway’s Shubert Theatre on West 44th Street beginning Friday. Aiken will continue his run through May 4th.

“Clay is amazing, beyond that glorious voice,” said director Mike Nichols. “Turns out he is an excellent comic actor and a master of character. People are going to be surprised by his wide-ranging talent, since the first impression is of great country charm and a singer to remember. This guy is not only a star; he is a lot more. We’re lucky to get him for ‘Spamalot’!”

But Aiken may have gotten off on the wrong foot with Monty Python fans by telling Newsweek that the first time he saw ‘Spamalot’, he thought it was “the stupidest thing I’d ever seen in my entire life” and that he “thought Monty Python was a person until three months ago.”
