Forbes reports former President Bill Clinton announced Shakira’s organization pledging a $40 million commitment to help relieve the effects of natural disasters in Peru and Nicaragua through investment in education, sanitation and water systems during the second day of the Clinton Global Initiative’s three-day conference in Manhattan. Clinton was so impressed that he called Shakira “The most famous person to take the stage today” as she came up to receive her certificate.
