Conan O’Brien joked during his tonight show monologue on Wednesday, “According to the trade papers, ‘American Idol’ judge, Simon Cowell, is about to sign up for a second season because the producers offered him $1 million. Yeah, and not only that, Paula Abdul is about to sign up for a second season because producers said she could live in her dressing room.”
Next on Conan’s list was Lance. “The Russian space program announced that they have kicked out Lance Bass because, because of late payment, they’ve kicked him out. And in his place, the Russians are sending up a cargo container. That’s true. Yeah, not only that, *NSYNC has also replaced Lance Bass with a cargo container.”
Finally, Conan joked, “At the VMAs, Christina Aguilera and Eminem ended their feud, which began when Eminem falsely bragged that she had once given him oral sex. And apparently, Aguilera was so happy that the feud was over, she gave Eminem oral sex. I couldn’t believe it — it’s true.”
Krieff Says Cash Is Coming For Lance Bass
September 4, 2002 – David Krieff, the Hollywood producer behind the deal that would send *NSYNC star Lance Bass into space says a first slice of the reported $20 million fee to finance his participation would be handed over by Friday or next Monday, and said Bass “is not going to leave town.” Krieff said, “The money is all there. It was never a question of money, ever. The question is delivery of the money … so that everybody is happy and that just in case, God forbid, the thing (rocket) blew up, what happens?”
Ryan Seacrest Promotes ‘American Idol’ Finale On KTLA
September 3, 2002 – Ryan Seacrest, co-host of Fox’s ‘American Idol,’ talked with KTLA earlier today about the hit show’s season finale which will air this week. Ryan talked about the Jimmy Fallon impersonation saying, “Couldn’t have been more on!” He says he was flattered and when he saw it from the audience, for the first second he actually thought it was him. Rake In Millions While You Can ‘Idol’ Winner
September 3, 2002 – The New York Post reports that whoever ends up winning ‘American Idol’ on Wednesday stands to make millions in record sales, personal appearances and endorsements over the coming months. Still, Linda Mann, president of Mann Media, a public-relations firm, offered the winner some sobering advice. “You should try to make as much money as you can as quickly as you can because you’ll be on the talent scrap heap tomorrow,” Mann said.
