Conor Maynard sat down for an interview with Andrea Russett of Hot 107.9 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The American pop singer did a series of “would you rather” before talking about filming ‘Vegas Girl’ in New York instead of Las Vegas, what inspired him to post videos on YouTube, and his favorite doughnut variety.
Discussing the ‘Vegas Girl’ video, the 20-year-old said, “Basically we had a bit of a problem. We’ve got this song called ‘Vegas Girl’ and we were really excited about it. Yeah we’ll shot the video in Vegas it will be great! I’ll be poppin’ bottles in the club! It’ll be amazing. Then I realized I’m actually legally too young to go out in Vegas, so the video would have consisted of me outside with the bouncers saying, ‘Yeah, can’t get in. Mom pick me up please’. We thought the idea behind it would be you can be anywhere in the world. You don’t have to be in Vegas. You can be from anywhere and still party like you’re in Vegas.”
On his decision to post his singing efforts on YouTube, Conor said, “I think for me it was actually this one moment I was walking home from school and this girl kind of overheard me singing a song with a friend. She came up to me and was like, ‘Do that again’. So I sang again and she did the whole crazy girl reaction thing. That kind of was the moment I thought maybe I should go away and take singing a little more seriously. I enjoyed singing but I didn’t really do anything with it. That was my urge to go away and do something properly with it, so after that I went home and started learning how to record.”
