Arlene Martinez of the Allentown Morning Call was on hand for the Hilary Duff concert at the Allentown Fair’s grandstand stage on Friday (September 2). “It’s odd that her handlers have deemed good girl Duff, of Disney’s ‘Lizzie McGuire’ fame, rock material,” Martinez writes. “For a brief moment though, before a Lite-Brite-esque background on the top of a tall stage, her head thrown back and her arm raised powerfully to the sky, one could almost believe. Then the illusion was shattered, and the reality set in: average songs (at least 18) that quickly became interchangeable and tiring, and a voice that simply does not lend itself to rock.”
