Cyberstar Sandi Thom – Who Cares If It’s Hype?

ilikemusic.com is rushing to the defense of Sandi Thom in wake of numerous press reports this week questioning whether the singer poised to top the UK singles chart with ‘I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker’ exagerrated claims that she performed before more than 70,000 internet eyeballs from her basement via web cam. “We live in a world rammed with marketing messages, PR ploys, hype and advertising,” the unbylined story explained. “As long as a webcast happened and Sandi caught the attention of a label to sign her, who cares how the public got to hear about her. Whether the story is a scam or not, it’s innovative, and that’s good! If Ms Thom had no talent, sure, you might question it – look at the Crazy Frog – zero talent but huge ads to exploit kids and a huge hit is borne. Now that deserves questioning, but Sandi Thom?
