Renée Graham of the Boston Globe asked Daniel Bedingfield what his decision was to turn down an offer from Madonna’s Maverick Records, and instead sign with Island Def Jam. “One says no to Madonna when another company offers you a better deal,” Bedingfield responded. “As much as I like [top Maverick executive] Guy Oseary, and as hilarious and fantastic as he is, he would have controlled me, and made me play what he wanted me to play.”
