Brian Melo Finishes Writing A Song

Brian Melo

updated fans on his blog at MySpace on Tuesday (November 4). The Canadian singer tells readers:

I just finished writing a song with my friend Dave Martin called ‘Dont Wanna Know’ and by the end of our session I was feeling pretty pumped about the song. Sometimes you can just sense the potential of a track once you finish writing it, but on the other hand I have had times that I thought I had a pretty good song than I start demoing it, and I realize that I have just created a stinker… lol. Oh well but that’s the way it goes.

Jada Serve As Halloween Pet Parade’s Grand Divas

Lauren O’Keefe of checked in with the Boston, Massachusetts girl group’s blog at MySpace. She writes:

Hey everyone!! Just wanted to see how everyone’s Halloween was and to tell you that we kick started our Halloween festivities with a pet parade!! We were the Grand Divas at Doggie Day’s 4th annual Halloween Pet Parade last weekend!! It was amazing! Hundreds of dressed up doggies paraded with us through downtown Boston including Elle’s pup Peanut (who was a Lobster!) It was so cute to see all of the little pups dressed up. We saw dogs dressed in hotdog costumes, princess costumes, Celtics cheerleaders, etc!! At the end of the parade there were costume contests where the owners and pups could win pretty sweet prizes. Randy Price from Channel 7 was there to Emcee! My favorite dressed up doggie (who won one of the prizes) was Michael Phelps! He had on a Speedo, goggles, and gold medals!! It was amazing. We love animals and were glad to be part of such a fun event:)

Natasha Hamilton Teams With Toby Gad On Solo Debut

checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Saturday (November 1) with an update on her debut solo album. The former Atomic Kitten star tells readers:

So, as you might know, I have spent the last few months writing my new album, I even got to got to New York and write with a brilliant guy called Toby Gad, he’s wrote the new Beyonce track, “If I Were A Boy”. He’s an amazing writer and within half an hour of meeting him and writing, I was crying! He’s really good at tapping into your emotions and how to turn them into lyrics. We wrote ‘Ms Emotional’ which you might of heard already on myspace, it’s one of the songs I’m most proud of and I hope u like it. I have about 10 songs done for the album, and real good mix of pop, funk, r&b and I even do a bit of spoken rap on some of the tracks!!! OK, I know that sounds a bit dodgy, but it all works well in the songs, so watch this space for a bit of scouse rap! ha ha ha.

Terra Naomi Weighs In On Today’s Election

checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Tuesday (November 4), commenting on today’s elections and Proposition 8, which will change the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in California. The Los Angeles based singer songwriter tells readers:

It’s election day. In under 24 hours we will know the results. It’s looking good, at least from where I sit, but I can’t relax until
know the final counts.

And, to be honest, I’m VERY concerned about prop 8. The fact that I’ve seen “yes on prop 8″ banner ads on MySpace, non-stop, ALL DAY LONG, is really upsetting. This is 2008. There was a time in our country’s history, not so long ago, when it was illegal for a white person to marry a black person.

Why is proposition 8 even an issue? It is a discussion which should exist only between groups of bigots… not something which is up for debate while we are about to elect our first African-American president. We have come so far, in some ways… and saying that we’ve “come so far” feels ridiculous to me since “coming so far” simply means overcoming our disgusting natural states of hatred, bigotry and ignorance.

That being said, better that we overcome it than NOT overcome it, since it was (and still is) there to begin with. Ok. Enough of that… at least for now…
