Christina Aguilera Reacts To Prop 8 Passage

spoke with MTV News about Tuesday’s passage of California’s Proposition 8, a ballot measure amending the state’s constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry, and the demonstrations against the measure that followed its passage last night. “Last night, there was a whole rally that I saw for Prop. 8,” she told MTV News. “A lot of people came out with their signs, and I think [Prop. 8] is discrimination and I don’t understand how people can be so closed-minded and so judgmental. We chose an African-American president, and it means so much as a time in history, great change and open-mindedness. Why is this any different? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Why you would put so much money behind something [aimed at] stopping from people loving each other and bonding together? I just don’t understand it. It’s hard for me to grasp. But I would’ve been out there with my rally sign as well.” Watch her remarks below.

Kaci Brown Discusses New Album & Interscope Exit

checked in with her MySpace friends on Thursday (November 6) with a bulletin about her new album. The Los Angeles based pop singer tells readers:

I’m doing all I can to make sure the record will be something you’ll all be proud of.

As most of you know, I’m no longer with Interscope. With records not selling like they used to, record companies don’t have budget to do with artists what they wish anymore.

I’m trying to do a record with all live instruments, which can be pretty costly after the studio space and all the musicians. It’s not as easy as programing a beat in the laptop and slapping a vocal down.

Therefore, a lot of time is going in to creating other marketing ideas, and making sure the record is everything I know it can be.

Jesse Carmichael Reacts To Prop 8 Passage

Jesse Carmichael of checked in with fans from Brazil on the band’s blog at MySpace on Thursday (November 6). The keyboardist tells readers:

We’re in Rio right now… show tomorrow night… such a beautiful place… amazing mountains… the ocean… trees… birds… people smiling… a lot of poverty… traffic… a lot of traffic all over the world… I wonder if we’ll ever find another planet we can get to safely and live on… wouldn’t that be great… we’d know how to do a lot of things differently… we’d be able to figure out how many people the environment could comfortably and sustainably support… we’d use renewable energy sources like Wind and Solar from the beginning so we wouldn’t have such a pollution problem… and then we’d have more time to figure out why it is that humans have such a hard time getting along…

If there’s anyone that can take America from a state back to being the ‘United States’ is Obama.

Congratulations to America for making the RIGHT decision! The energy that he created around this election brought people out to vote that would usually have just stayed in, young, old, black, white…. You didn’t have to be interested in politics to have been excited about this election! I stayed up till 5am watching it, until my eyes were too heavy to keep open!

Exciting stuff! Yey Obama!
