John Mayer: I’m Enjoying Off Time

checked in with fans on his official web site’s blog, reacting to the online talk about how he’s been giving the silent treatment to the pesky paparazzi who often follow his movements in Los Angeles. The singer songwriter tells readers:

I am not darker, angrier or moodier these days. In fact, it’s just the opposite. All that’s happened is that I’ve given up on trying to find a way to use unwanted media as a form of entertainment. (It still was worth a try.) A walk to the car isn’t the best time to try and analyze my mood or disposition, so you’ll probably always get a bad read from it.

Here’s what I think some of you might be missing… I’m enjoying off time right now. That means I’m not really playing any shows as I concentrate on making the next album. Traditionally that would mean that you never see me at all, and my absence makes your hearts grow fonder, and then I appear again with my next collection of work and we all get grooving again. Things have changed a bit, and the decision to slide on and off your radar isn’t so much my own anymore. But I’m too young to stomp my feet about it. All I can do is concentrate on keeping my heart and soul correct and then redecorate around it.

Mariah’s ‘X Factor’ Performance Brings Back Memories For Sinead Quinn

updated fans on her blog at MySpace on Monday (November 10). The ‘Fame Academy’ alum tells readers:

I’ve been watching ‘The X Factor’ and was disappointed Diana didn’t get to sing cos of throat problems, she is my favorite. But I know what its like to have the pressure of a live show every week and these people probably aren’t used to this level of A. pressure and B. intense singing, rehearsing etc. And it brought back memories seeing on there, I’ll never forget her coming on ‘Fame Academy’, it was bloody amazing. She sounded like she struggled with throat problems at the end too on her tune… Live singing eh…

I have been writing great stuff with Pete and Deni (co writers of ‘Ready To Run’). I’m excited about it, but for now I’m gonna get married [to The Feeling drummer Paul Stewart] and get stuck into everything in the new year.

The entire blog post at MySpace has since been removed.

Rachael Yamagata’s Safe With Her Goggles

updated fans on her blog at MySpace on Tuesday (November 11) while on the Hotel Café Tour. The New York City based singer songwriter tells readers:

My suitcase is outside the bus. I’ve left it there in hopes someone takes it away and relieves me of all that I packed and did not need. It happens every time without fail. I mean I even brought a pair of goggles. Did I really think they were a necessity? Every day I grab all of my bags and haul them into the day room and repack and it seldom does any good. My life is in my bunk and thank the lord that I’m short (first time I’m ever giving thanks for that) because that means I can fit more shist at my feet and feel like I’m safe. Safe with my goggles… at my feet.

Last night we played St. Louis and the big news of late is how we all seem to be dropping like flies. Jason (guitarist extraordinaire) was attacked by a flight case and the elevator and now his pinky finger is paying for it. Smashed up pulpy mess it is. Poor Alice had an encounter with a floor, face first, and has been sporting a shiner for the past three days. This ain’t no fluff girl singer songwriter tour.
