Demi Lovato Speaks Out Against Bullying

Demi Lovato

checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Wednesday (November 12), discussing bullying and online cruelty. The ‘Camp Rock’ star tells readers:

I’ve been talking to a few fans lately and I’ve been fortunate enough to maintain a friendship with them over MySpace or emails and even though our lives are completely different, we still have one thing in common; having trouble dealing with the cruelty of others. Or some people call it bullying. I’ve dealt with it before until I made the decision to homeschool but sometimes it seems as if it doesn’t just end in high-school. Sometimes I get online and read blogs (which I probably shouldn’t if I can’t handle it) and read the horrible things that people say in comments… and it can really take a toll on you. Verbal abuse can be just as harmful as physical abuse. The fans that I have stayed in touch tell me all the time that they’re either being harassed online or being beaten at school and it hurts me to hear that. I took the easy road out and decided to homeschool but unfortunately not everyone has that option. So as a message to everyone.. Please keep in mind when you’re about to threaten someone, make fun of them or leave blog comments about them…. that what you say or do to others can truly affect someone. And as cheesy and lame as it may sound.. Never forget the golden rule.

And by the way. I wanted to say how thankful I am for you all.
I’m so honored to be in the position that I’m in.
You all have saved me.

Justin Lanning Isn’t Changing For Anyone

updated fans on his blog at MySpace on Wednesday (November 12), following up on his prior blog giving some grief to his pal Ryan Cabrera for being a no-show at his own Halloween bash. The Los Angeles singer songwriter tells readers:

I’m so sick of Hollywood BS. I cant take it anymore!!! Some people got mad at me for my last blog.. but I am rebelling against Hollywood!!! I don’t care if people think I talk trash or whatever…. I’m not saying any lies.. I am the type of person to call people out on things and am very straight up about things… I will look someone in the eyes and tell them exactly how I feel, even if it’s hurtful or inappropriate. It’s just who I am. I cannot hold back myself… I wouldn’t be an artist then… I have to allow myself to be free and as open as possible. If someone doesn’t like it… Too bad for them. Some people like me because I am me. I am not changing for anyone. I AM ME. “Ashlee” lol. I always liked her first record so much… then it went downhill from there… same with Ry Cab.. I am A HUGE FAN. I love 3 songs off his first record. But if the mofo flakes out I won’t be quiet about it… Why?? Cuz you want to hear it!! You want to hear the juicy gossip… DON’T CHA??!? ha! I would too… dont feel bad.

Jem Preps February 2009 ‘Down To Earth’ Release In Europe/UK

announced that she’ll be releasing ‘Down to Earth’ in the UK and continental Europe on February 2, 2009, both the album and its title track. It also happens to be the birthday of her Welsh grandfather, who passed away in July, and would have turned 93. “It is so lovely and auspicious that the album is going to be released on his birthday,” said. “There are no coincidences you know.” The album, which was released in the U.S. in September, is dedicated to him and her three other grandparents.

Jem will also be touring the UK and continental Europe in support of the release. “‘Down to Earth’ is different from ‘Finally Woken’ in a good way. As before, I mix up genres as I like listening to lots of different types of music so that’s what comes out. It is a little darker in parts and then a little lighter too, as is life.”

Amy Macdonald Looks Forward To A Christmas Break

checked in with fans on her blog at MySpace on Wednesday (November 12), while in Basel, Switzerland. The Scottish singer songwriter tells readers:

I am back to work. I have had some time at home recently, mainly because I was suffering from a few nasty illnesses :-( Trust me you don’t want me to go into it. I’m still feeling pretty fragile and definitely looking forward to Christmas to get a nice break but right now we have a few gigs and promo commitments to get done this month so we’re all back at it again.

I’ve now sold 1.75 million albums! which is absolutely astonishing! It’s still rising constantly and now I have the deluxe album out people are all buying that too! To think around this time last year I had gone platinum (300,000) how much difference a year makes!!

VV Brown

updated fans on her blog at MySpace on Tuesday (November 11) after earlier performing a pair of showcases at the Soho Revue Bar in London, England. The British pop singer tells readers:

In the afternoon we did a showcase for media and radio which was nervy because its a different vibe when you perform to press. I feed of energy and it was a little weird and different but overall cool.

We then did a showcase in the evening which was sold out and was amazing!!! I had so much fun!

Thank you guys for coming! It was such an amazing gig and the energy was electric… x

My first sold out gig. I’ve been so use to empty rooms and being the under dog support act shunned to the toilets… It was a nice feeling to do a headline and people actually turned up. Overwhelming…
