David’s Father Talks To Us Weekly

Yohande Banda, father of Madonna’s soon-to-be-adopted son David, has talked with Us Weekly magazine about meeting Madonna. “She is such a lovely lady,” Mr. Banda said. “She asked me questions about me, David and my family.” Asked whether Madonna had sung one of her hit songs for him, Mr Banda said: “No, but she told me she sings for David.” Asked if Madonna had made any promises to him, Mr. Banda said: “She is one of our family now. In our Malawian culture, if you are wealthy and some of your relatives are poor, you are obliged, although not forced, to assist in any way you can. I am not asking for anything from Madonna, but when David grows up and is brought here and sees our poverty, he will certainly ask his mum to help.”
