Do ‘Idol’ Judges Serve A Purpose Beyond Saying ‘You Suck’?

MTV News spoke with ‘American Idol’ executive producer Ken Warwick, as well as contestants who have been eliminated from the show after either following advice from the judges or after receiving praise from them, making many wonder what purpose they serve. “It would be wrong to say that the judges’ opinions on the show, when it’s right in front of peoples’ noses, don’t have an effect, because they do,” Warwick said. “But generally speaking, I don’t think overall it has that much of an effect.” Read more.
