Fatherhood Won’t Mean Shane Filan’s Westlife End

Though his former Westlife bandmate Brian McFadden quit after became a father, Shane Filan, who is set to become a dad himself in August, plans to stay with the veteran Irish boy band. “Brian left around this time last year but he had his own issues,” Filan tells The Glasgow Daily Record. “He was a member of the band for five years then it got to the stage where he didn’t enjoy it. I’m looking forward to a long happy life and lots of kids. The band life is separate from our private lives. Everyone in the band is excited about the baby and we are looking forward to the next album. When September arrives, I’ll be back at work. In the meantime, it’s going to be great to have time off so that I can be with the baby when he or she arrives. We’ll take Westlife year by year. We are seven years together in July and about to record our seventh album. We’ve surpassed the shelf life of a normal boy band and our fans have grown with us. As long as we bring out good songs our fans will be there.”
