Friends Of Managers Footed Sandi Thom’s Streaming Bill
As her re-released debut single ‘I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker’ topped the UK singles chart this week, Sandi Thom spoke with The Sun’s Victoria Newton to defend claims that her basement webcast concerts were a PR stunt and the viewership figures were inflated. “Ours is such an interesting story I’m not surprised there’s been speculation,” she said. “But some of the coverage is laughable. The guys that helped us webcast the basement gigs were friends of my managers and did it for free. They used us as a test run. The fact they were so successful was a surprise to all of us. I couldn’t have afforded to employ some hot-shot firm.”
