When George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley found fame in Wham!, pop pin-up George felt it would be disastrous for their career to admit his true sexuality. “I lost my nerve,” the singer tells Gay Times magazine. “I wanted to come out but I didn’t realize how successful we were going to be. I think that’s understandable. I was nearly 20 and we were the biggest band in Europe, and within two years the biggest pop band in America.
