Getting To Know Florrie
A couple of weeks ago, T4 caught up with Florrie backstage at one of her gigs. Watch as the singer songwriter talked about her music, drumming for Girls Aloud, her sound, her favorite track to play live, and how her UK tour has been going halfway through.
“I’m a singer songwriter, musician. I play drums and guitar and I’m 22 years old and I’m from Bristol,” Florrie said introducing herself. “I went to audition to be the house drummer at Xenomania and they were making the ‘Out of Control’ album by Girls Aloud, so my first job there was drumming on a performance, which was throwing me on the deep end. I guess that was the best way to do it.”
“A year and a half ago I started writing and recording my own material, and I’ve been doing that ever since,” she explained. “I describe my sound as a mix of indie pop and electronic pop. I guess where they meet in the middle. The song that best represents my sound has got to be ‘Give Me Your Love’. It’s my favorite track to play live, and it’s got loves of live drums and it’s really upbeat and dancey as well. It’s fun.”
