Girls Aloud’s fourth album ‘Tangled Up’ features some songwriting credits for the ‘Popstars: The Rivals’ group on a number of songs, which perhaps will keep the girls’ critics at bay. Girls Aloud have depended almost exclusively on songwriter Brian Higgins for their material, something Cheryl Cole was quick to defend in an interview with the Nottingham Evening Post.
“We never got into this industry to be brilliant lyricists,” Cheryl explained, “but recently we’ve felt more comfortable with writing bits and pieces. Sometimes you just have to let people do what they’re talented at, and stick to what you know best. We are singers and performers, and I could never imagine Brian Higgins standing on a stage singing ‘Love Machine’, but don’t you think it’d be a shame if no one could bring that song to life?” The story at bridlingtonfreepress.co.uk has since been removed.
