Gordon Lightfoot Hails Avril’s Songwriting Talent
Gordon Lightfoot has won tons of songwriting awards and is known for ‘Sundown’, ‘Wreck of the Edmund Fizgerald’, ‘If You Could Read My Mind’, and many other great songs. And what does he think about Avril Lavigne? She’s a “brilliant little songwriter,” he remarked to Saturday’s Globe and Mail.

And there’s no doubt that Avril will one day follow him into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and win the Order of Canada! Rock on!

Can you really hail the writing talents of someone who is only the co-writer of all their songs? For example Clif Magness (don’t believe me go emimusicpub.com) and the genius that is the Matrix (who wrote her hit Complicated)? I’m just saying if you’re going to hail someone because of that then Christina Aguilera among many other pop tarts deserve praise too.
Avril didn’t even write any songs on her first album.
oh and to grprincess – yes she did write her songs, how STUPID can you be. she wrote songs even when she was in high school and they were put on her first CD duh! and who do you suppose wrote them.LOL.
Bull crap. Avril dose not write her own songs! Writers write her songs and she says she writes then. she is not just a poser with her attitude and clothes but she is also a poser with her so-called “songwriting”
Avril does! Ain’t nothing you say is gonna make me believe you lying bitch. In Seventeen magazine it says ” I was going to say good-bye to Avril but when I walked in she was playing her guitar and working on a song” ,”so I just let her be and let her concentrate on her songwriting.” yea and there’s much more than that also on things like her band even says that she writes her own songs.
Mel_Melanie have you heard of the MATRIX? They wrote the songs on Avril’s first album.
Avril wrote all songs on Let go with other people and only five of them with the Matrix.
