Dallas, Texas based singer songwriter Haley Pharo spoke with CBS 11 about her efforts over the holidays to raise awareness for African orphans through song. Pharo and her family traveled to Uganda to meet the children and shoot a video for her song ‘Reach Out’ with an African childrens orchestra. Pharo said, “How do you put that emotion of seeing a kid starve to death for no reason because they can’t afford food into words?” As for the trip, Pharo said, “I think I walked away gaining more than they did, because they taught me so much. They’re happier than most anyone I’d ever seen with nothing.” Pharo hopes to enlist Timbaland and will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas on the project, which she plans to release next month.
