Michael White of the Toronto Eye spoke with Hanson about the decline in audiences since their massive debut ‘Middle of Nowhere’, which saw the group perform before big arena crowds. “Nothing will ever replace the experience of playing your music and having 20,000 eyes and ears there,” says singer-keyboardist Taylor. His brother Isaac added, “I’d rather play five shows at a theatre than one show at an arena. Theatres are designed for performance, to project the sound in a way that the audience truly hears it, whereas arenas are really sporting places that kind of double as music venues.”
