Has Depression Prompted Janet Jackson’s Weight Gain?

Kimberly Garrison, a certified personal trainer and owner of One on One Ultimate Fitness in Philadelphia, wrote about Janet Jackson’s weight gain in her weekly health column for the Philadelphia Daily News. “My theory is that Janet may suffer from depression,” Garrison writes. “Only severe depression could drive a person who seemed so passionately committed to looking fit to go on an eating orgy that culminates into a major weight gain. Is Janet depressed about her 40th birthday, coming up on May 16? Does she fear that, at 40, she has reached her creative peak and lost her youthful beauty.”

Another Jackson Gained Weight?

February 3, 2006 – Conan O’Brien joked during his Late Night monologue on Thursday night, “According to the New York Post, Janet Jackson has recently gained 50 pounds. Yeah. Yeah, apparently also gained 50 pounds, but then someone made him drop the 7-year-old.”

Janet Jackson gains weight in between every album she’s ever done. If she’s depressed at all it’s because as you get older the weight comes off harder. She may be having a harder time getting rid of it this time around. My money’s still on Janet though that she’ll get rid of most of it by the time her albums released.

Oh c’mon, this is not the first time that Janet has gained a lot of weight in her career. It doesn’t have to always be depression. Since she’s taking a break she’s probably eating more, exercising less, and enjoying herself.

  3. Justifine says:

It’s true. This is nothing new, anyone following Janet’s career knows this happens EVERY TIME. Just because someone loves food, it doesn’t make them depressed. And if Janet is depressed, that’s none of this writer’s business and there’s no point to this article. Ugh, no wonder there are so many anorexic young people. The media sucks.

Even if it is depression. Janet has every right to be depressed. Yes, the way she was attacked at the Super Bowl. Janet tries to hard to please whom ever is pulling the strings, not to mention, she wants to hold on to the throne. She still stands. What I’m concerned about it, she is going to mess her reputation up, like her brother, if she does not stop some of the bad decisions that she is making. And Janet needs to grow-up and count her blessings. FOLKS IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW BIG SHE BECOMES;SHE WILL ALWAYS REMAIN BIG. RATHER BY HER SIZE FROM HER WEIGHT; OR BY HER NAME IN THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS, OR IT COULD BE BY HER CONDUCT, GOOD OR BAD. IT WILL STILL SAY HOW BIG SHE WAS.

I’m a fan of JANET. Just shock how she got big she almost fell from the stairs coming out of the restaurant. Her black outfit did not hide her weight gain and she was not smiling.

I share her pain and wish her well. Janet is a beautiful woman in the spotlight…at least when I gain weight only my family and friends know my suffering. Funny thing about weight gain is that it makes you depressed; however take anti-depressant meds and they make you gain weight! Go figure. Good luck, Janet.

  7. goot says:

    no. She’s just old.

I wasn’t even aware that Janet had gained weight. Lol, I guess I’m out of the loop.
