Gary Marsh, executive vice president of original programming for the Disney Channel who helped put ‘Lizzie McGuire’ on the air chatted with Roger Moore of the Orlando Sentinel about the show’s star Hilary Duff. “When Hilary walked in the room, [I thought] this was a moment, this could be it,” remembers Marsh. “She was 12 at the time. There was something absolutely captivating about her persona. She had a clear sense of personal style. The manner in which she carried herself, her poise. She had been acting since 8 or 9. When you see the movie, the camera adores her. In a room, you gravitate toward her. Hilary the actress has given positive energy to the show. It’s alchemy.”
