Hilary Duff was in Fort Wayne, Indiana last week, visiting South Wayne Elementary to promote the Blessings in a Backpack program, which has produced over 6 million meals donated to those less fortunate.
“We’re feeding kids, and giving them the fuel that they need to be able to learn and grow and they’re our future,” the singer/actress tells WANE TV Channel 15.
As for the location, Duff said, “Fort Wayne because there’s kids in need here that need it, and why not? We want to try and conquer all of America and have no hungry kids.”
As for the program’s success, she said, “The principals are involved and send us e-mails with statistics of the almost every kid showing up on Monday.”
