Hilary Duff Says She Doesn’t Totally Disagree With Lip-Synching

will no doubt raise eyebrows after telling MTV News her thoughts on lip-synching. “I don’t think that I 100 percent disagree with lip-synching,” Duff said. “When you’re Britney Spears and you’re dancing a perfect choreographed show and you’re changing outfits nine times, then it becomes not so much about the music. Her music is so fun, you know what I mean? You dance and it’s club music and it’s high energy, and she’s out of breath and dancing and running around. But it’s about a performance, and that’s fine. That’s a choice you make.” The teen queen, who has often been accused of miming herself, added, “I try as best I can to sing. It’s about the music.” Read more.

So now we see that she admits to lip syncing “I try the best I can, it’s about the music” now does that mean it’s about music and not about her singing ability? too funny.

Actually, she admitted EVERYONE ELSE lipsynced (thanks, Hilary…way to go…making new friends everyday). She, of course, would never do anything like that (*snicker*). It’s all a choice THOSE OTHER TEEN GIRLS LIKE LINDSAY make. Can I laugh now?

I love this line: “If you miss a couple of notes, who cares?” Duff said. “A normal person, if you write a paper, you’re not going to spell all the words right. You’re not going to hit all the notes. I think it’s cool to mess up or be out of breath or not finish your whole verse. It’s real.” I might suck but DAMNIT I F*CKIN’ SUCK FOR REAL!!! Not like that LINDSAY!

Uh oh.. Someone’s going to start adding dancing to their concerts. With all the confetti, lights, & dancing, I might get too excited & wet myself. Just think, Hilary will be a dancing “punk rock” star. Or maybe she’s saying she does lipsync because the lights & confetti are apart of the performance & they tire her out.

Bah, Hilary’s cool. She sang live at the concert I saw, and she put on a very high energy show. Even Christina and Mariah lip synch sometimes.

I totally agree with this: “If you miss a couple of notes, who cares?” Duff said. “A normal person, if you write a paper, you’re not going to spell all the words right. You’re not going to hit all the notes. I think it’s cool to mess up or be out of breath or not finish your whole verse. It’s real.”

It is most definitely NOT ok to lip sync, and anyone who goes to a concert knowing full well that the artist is ripping them off is just plain dumb…flat out! My sister’s best friend just saw Hilary over the weekend, or late last week, whatever….anyways, she, 19, said they were very close and could tell that she was LIVE the whole time, so…. I’m sure she HAS done it, but she hasn’t made it a habit, so…

I know she did earlier in her career, but I think she stopped when Ashlee Simpson got exposed on SNL and everyone was paying closer attention. I guess she should get credit for at least having enough sense to stop when people were looking. Lindsay went ahead and got caught on GMA.

I think this shows the weakness of manufactured pop. You can get girls like Hilary, Lindsay, Ashlee, etc. who have little or no experience singing and because they are “teen stars” (or in Ashlee’s case, they have a sister who is a star), they get signed to a deal. Then the record company hires top pop songwriters, arrangers, producers, etc like the Matrix who specialize in using production techniques to cover up vocal failings. These girls have never performed live before and suddenly they have a platinum selling album and are expected to put on an show worthy of a platinum selling artist. The temptation to go the lip sync route (or at least to use backing tracks to boost your vocals) is tremendous especially when your “experts” are telling you to do this. Real singers like Mariah, Madonna, Christina, etc. had been performing live before audiences long before they broke out as major performers and didn’t need that crutch.

i hate lip syching. I mostly listen to rock music so good thing rock stars avoid lip syching (those that I know of…) if you are gonna perform I reckon don’t lip sych. and “if you miss a couple of notes, who cares??????” this just shows what a no-talent wannabe she is as anyone who has at least some singing training knows missing notes isn’t good. if Mariah Carey missed a couple of notes in a concert everyone would be all over her…. uhhhh Hilary sucks…. lets buy lindsay’s album!!!! haha

  9. Babar says:

That was actually pretty good for her. For all the singers who shiver at the thought of their lip-synching caught, pretty good of her to own it herself. Good for you, Hilary. And she does have a great point. Not even Mariah and Christina will be able to sing with 100% perfection while dancing energetically.

It is funny to hear you speak of Madonna as a real singer’, ‘after she admitted herself to lip synch in her last concert in Montreal in the 90’s. For the simple that no one can sing like in studio and dance around at the same time.
