Hispanic Heritage Awards Honor Ricky Martin

Richard Leiby of the Washington Post reports Ricky Martin was revealed as the Mother Teresa of the Latino community at last night’s Hispanic Heritage Awards. “To the rest of the world, he is Ricky Martin, international star, but to our children in Calcutta, he is simply Uncle Ricky,” Esther Canadas, a willowy model, said before three street children from India were brought onstage to shower Martin with hugs and kisses. He looked stunned and shed tears after being lauded as a philanthropist and “rescuer” of impoverished kids in India.
