This is another example of a recent but interesting development. After a decade or so of popular but (with a few exceptions) musically disposable teen female pop stars, there has now been a number of new girl pop singers who actually have real talent and show some songwriting ability and musical chops. The one who had gotten the most attention is Joss Stone, but Skye Sweetnam and Christine Evans have also released excellent albums and Brie Larson and now Hope Partlow are about to release albums that seem promising considering the single and “snippets” of other songs that I have heard. If we are going to be inundated by teen girl pop stars, it will be a lot easier to take if they have musical talent.
