Bill Brioux of the Toronto Sun weighed in on the new season of ‘American Idol’, and its slip in the ratings in the Canadian city. Brioux writes that ‘Idol’ “astonishingly slipped out of the Top-5 two weeks ago. Virtually everywhere else in North America, the show is scary dominant, automatically drawing 30 million U.S. viewers at least twice a week.” He added, “So — Toronto aside — what is the deal with ‘American Idol’? Why is it such a monster hit? If you can sit through the blatant cola plugs and incessant ‘Canadian Idol’ hype, there’s still a good hour of entertainment packed into every two-hour edition.”
