David Jakubiak of the Chicago Sun-Times reviewed the ‘American Idol 2′ tour stop at the United Center on Wednesday night. He writes, “Musically, ‘American Idols Live!’ is as prefab as a concert can get, one step removed from a theme-park extravaganza. There were the superbly understated five-piece band, four anonymous dancers and the nine Idols. Each was summoned to the stage by his or her ‘best friend on the whole tour,’ warbled a single cover, unleashed 13 ‘I love you Chi-Towns!’ and promptly introduced, via video clip, his or her own ‘best friend on the whole tour’.”
