Black Like Whom? Justin Timberlake Loses Cred

March 29, 2004 – Allison Samuels of Newsweek is reporting that *NSYNC star Justin may be losing his credibility in the black community after his reaction to the uproar caused at the Super Bowl when he exposed the breast of Janet Jackson. “It’s just maddening because he was as black as black could be until Super Bowl night,” a close friend of Jackson said. “In his mind, he was as black as 50 Cent because he knew the words to a Marvin Gaye song. He rolled in both worlds, living it up. But as soon as something went wrong, we got a chance to see how white he really was. He left Janet hanging big time, and she’s still hurt by that.”

I have read this in several places. They think Justin is a little b*tch for leaving Janet to take all the responsibility. I don’t know – he has certainly been keeping a low profile lately. What’s the deal with this new movie? Edison? He talked bad about Britney for doing a movie and now he’s doing one. What the hell?

Saying he was black as black as could be.Is a insult to every African American. Its more like a pasty looking white guy who wanna be black.

hahahaaa….guess it’s time to go crying to mommy like the little girl he is. He was too good to even do an interview for the NSYNC E! True Hollywood Story. PLEASE Timberlake…without them, you’d be workin at a gas station in Memphis and livin in the trailer park with your pack a day smokin Mama.

I don’t see where he left her to take all the blame…she apologized and he apologized. Both said it wasn’t meant to happen, and both had the media in their ass…what exactly did he do to her? I must have missed it… And as a young black woman I think that anyone that thought he was “black” was an idiot be they black, white or purple. That’s just some more media sh** that they use to promote his records while the black community still liked him…his record doesn’t even SOUND “black”…as if “black” has a damn sound.

He left her to take the blame because he just shrugged it off.. AND his management made the statement, WITH his permission, that he was duped by HER and her management. How’s that NOT leaving her to take the blame? Um, and I agree with you on his album. It sounds WANNABE hip hop in parts…and the only reason people say that is because he worked with The Neptunes (who I think are HIGHLY overrated), Timbaland and Bryan McKnight.

Sorry, but when was JT EVER BLACK. To me, he was like the music industry equivalent of tofu. A white, flavorless substance that they drench with artificial flavoring to make it seem like a whole variety of things. HE WAS ALWAYS A WANNABE and to call him black is just a complete insult to the entire African race.

They both gave heartfelt apologies. It is the media that has blown this all out of proportion and every time the flame starts to die down they start it up again. IT IS THE MEDIA THAT NEEDS TO APOLOGIZE. And this should not and should never have any affect on their friendship.

  8. Girl_Interrupted says:

I don’t get what the big deal is. He apologized. She apologized. Why does this make her a better person than him? If it was an accident, both are innocent. If it was on purpose, both are guilty. No one in particular is the bigger person here.

Actually Janet is for being the one that took all the blame. She may have come up’, ‘with the idea…but he didn’t HAVE to do it. No one held a gun to his head. He also didn’t have to act like a little chicken sh** by saying that he was duped by Janet. Please boy.
