Charlie Craine of Hip Online chatted with Vanessa Carlton where the singer sounded somewhat unhappy with her record label Universal, at least compared to Alicia Keys’ deal with J Records. When asked if she doesn’t like to be lumped in with other female artists playing their own instruments, she said, “I don’t consider myself part of it. Like Alicia Keys does write and play, but she is huge and successful. I don’t think if that happened that my label would have been as willing to get so behind me. But I plan on being around for a long time.”
