Janet Jackson Nixes ‘SNL’ Skit With Michael Jokes

Us Weekly reports laughed “hysterically” at the LaToya jokes during a ‘Saturday Night Live’ read-through of a proposed Easter skit involving her brother during jokes about her sister LaToya Jackson, but was mum during the Jacko gags, despite the fact that none referred to his child molestation case. They report Janet’s handlers demanded the skit be nixed. But ‘SNL’ executive producer Lorne Michaels denied that Janet’s reps stepped in. He told The New York Daily News that the skit survived all the way through blocking and rehearsal, but he decided on his own to pull the plug on Friday night. “It probably would have played funny, but it seemed to make Janet uncomfortable,” Michaels said.

April 13, 2004 – An insider has more details on Janet Jackson’s duet with her brother Michael Jackson, telling Jeannette Walls of MSNBC.com: “I wouldn’t be surprised if Michael and Janet take on [the events surrounding the recent child molestation charges] again.     They did that already when the first molestation charge came out… I think it was called “Scream” or something? Anyway, that song sucked… I don’t think they should get together again.
