JC Wants To Escape Boy Band Past Without Justin Comparisons

Andrew Goldstein of The New York Post profiled the solo launch of JC Chasez, but questioned how the *NSYNC star could fully emerge from bandmate Justin Timberlake’s shadow. “When Justin’s record came out, no one wanted to believe how good it was,” argued Rolling Stone’s Joe Levy. “It’s the same with [Chasez's] record, which is just very smart, very sharp dance music. In fact, JC’s made more of an underground record [than Justin] – and the surprising thing is how good it is.” Levy added that Chasez’s debut ‘Schizophrenic’ “is edgy, sexually playful. Who does it bring to mind if not Prince?”
