There’s always room for J.Lo at Fox TV Studios and Regency TV, which have signed a first-look deal with Jennifer Lopez’s Nuyorican Prods. Lopez, partner Simon Fields and producer Julio Caro hope to create scripted comedy, drama and telepics at the studio as well as specials and unscripted skeins. Deal was announced Tuesday by Fox TV Studio prexy David Grant and New Regency CEO David Matalon. It’s a return home of sorts for Lopez, who got her start as a Fly Girl dancer on the Fox network’s early 1990s sketch comedy series “In Living Color.” “I started in television, and I love the medium,” Lopez said. “We intend to be a major creative force in television.” Lopez and Nuyorican are also in the midst of a long-term agreement with Spanish-lingo broadcaster Telemundo. Under that deal, Nuyorican is developing a telenovela and the variety show “Le Grand Tralala.” Jennifer previously developed a sitcom at NBC based on her family and upbringing in the Bronx; that project was ultimately shelved. Lopez, Fields and Caro have already met with several scribes and reality producers to map out their next step, Grant said. “Everything they do has a real style to it.”
