Access Hollywood took viewers to Jennifer Lopez’s favorite soccer field, where she is sponsoring a team in her hometown, the Bronx. The team is called the J.Lo Girls, and Lopez herself supplied not only the name, but also their uniforms. “It’s just a great thing, I’m glad we got involved with it,” said Lopez at the premiere of her new film. “We had our clothing company, and now we’re sponsoring a soccer team, so it’s good.”
‘Gigli’ A ‘Disaster’
July 31, 2003 – Jami Bernard of the New York Daily News reviewed the Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck starring movie ‘Gigli’, which hits theaters Friday. Bernard says the film “is a disaster.” Giving the flick only 1 star, she added, “The impending nuptials of Lopez and Affleck lead the public to expect a romantic comedy with a happily-ever-after ending. However, the script, by writer-director-producer Martin Brest, looks as if it began life as a crime drama with a heart. It has since morphed into a comedy without a pulse.”

July 31, 2003 – Forbes writer Peter Kafka spoke with Extra about how Jennifer Lopez and fiance Ben Affleck both made the Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Celebrities list. He says, “Jennifer is number five on the list this year. Ben is a mere two spots behind her at number seven.” While Lopez raked in a smaller income then her husband-to-be, a mere $29 million last year, Forbes gave Lopez props for multi-tasking. Kafka says, “She can sell clothes, she can sell magazines, she can sell music, and she can sell tickets at the box office.” But Kafka says big Ben’s big box office bucks still make him the breadwinner.

July 31, 2003 – The New York Daily News reports Jennifer Lopez’s sister Lynda phoned her on her Blink 102.7 radio show to quiz her about the story that the Enquirer caught her fiance Ben Affleck spending a night out at a strip club in Canada. “He, w-he … it sounds like Ben,” J.Lo said. “He, uh, does tip a lot … I don’t know about this. I’ll have to ask him.” When Linda offered to get him on the phone, Jennifer deadpanned, “Yeah … it’s great to hear [this] first thing in the morning.”
