The final version of the Jennifer Lopez and ben Affleck starring ‘Gigli’, opening August 1st, totally plays down the lesbian aspects of J.Lo’s character that were in the original script and rough cut of the movie. ”It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the way to market this movie is to exploit Jen and Ben’s romance in real life. … Having her play an overt lesbian would have complicated that and confused a large segment of the audience base they are trying to reach,” a studio insider told the Chicago Sun-Times.
