Jessica Simpson On How She Entertained The Troops

Jessica Simpson contributed her thoughts on performing for the troops in Bosnia during Thanksgiving 2001, then in Afghanistan in Christmas 2001. Simpson called the Bosnia performance “a life-changing experience. I will never sing ‘God Bless America’ the same way again. I ended every show with that song, and these men and women soldiers were on their feet, in tears. I had chill-bumps from head to toe.” And on the Afghanistan area aircraft carrier performance, she says, “I felt like Marilyn Monroe with all these guys surrounding me as I’m singing and looking out into the ocean.”
