Us Weekly reports that Jessica Simpson has sparked an economic boomlet in the tiny Argentine village of Florencio Varela after wearing shawls by local designer Cecilia De Bucourt. “My business has grown like crazy,” she explained. “I can’t keep up with demand!” De Bucourt met with Simpson in May at Radio City Music Hall, when she started to wear the $200 crocheted, hand dyed knits, which cost around $200 each. De Bucourt’s work staff has jumped from eight to thirty, and has raised the village’s standard of living. “The kids in her village can eat, and they can go to schools that they couldn’t go to,” Jessica’s mother Tina revealed. “She changed this village.” Check out the shawls online at CeciliaDeBucourt.com.
