Within the past week, Jessica Simpson’s fourth studio album ‘A Public Affair’ was certified gold by the RIAA for shipping 500,000 copies in the US. Though, in reality, it has really sold a mere 245,000 in the US after less than three months of charting on the Billboard 200. Upon release, the album struggled to meet expectations and quickly descended down the charts, already exiting most of them. The studio is hoping the release of the new single ‘Fired Up’ will boost sales – a song declared by record executive Scott Storch as Jessica Simpson’s ‘Dirrty’. In addition, ‘A Public Affair’ has been certified Gold in Canada. So far, sales for the album (according to Wikipedia) are just under 600,000 worldwide – nearly a tenth of what Jessica’s last studio album had sold and on par with her recent Christmas album. ‘A Public Affair’ is set for release in the UK sometime in January.
