Jim Farber of the New York Daily News profiled Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson’s pop careers after their divorce, and how the former 98 Degrees star’s ‘What’s Left Of Me’ has outsold ‘A Public Affair’. “All this may say something about the tone fans want stars to strike after a relationship comes to a wheezing halt,” he writes. “Lachey chose the blubbering route, turning ‘What’s Left of Me’ into a weepy plea for a lover to take back his wretched rear. Fans swooned. Simpson went the opposite route, proclaiming her freedom with as zippy a pop album as her handlers could concoct. The result clearly struck fans as cold.”
