Billy Johnson Jr. of Launch.com spoke with Jimmy Jam about he and Terry Lewis’ work with Mariah Carey on her Island Def Jam debut. Jam described the songs they’ve done with Carey so far saying, “The things we’re doing with here are very much classic, singer-songwriter type songs, ballads, that really explore the range and the incredible voice that she has. Just letting her be an artist.” As for whether her recent mental breakdown would be a theme of the album, Jam said, “I’m not sure. We haven’t dealt with it yet. But that doesn’t mean that we won’t maybe deal with it or maybe she’ll address it.” Read more.
