J.Lo Honors Afghanistani Woman At UN Award Event

USA Today reports that Jennifer Lopez presented the first award at United Nations Year of Microcredit Gala “Celebrating the Unsung Heroes of Poverty Eradication”, to Shakila, a woman from Afghanistan who was saved from an abusive marriage and later started a tailoring business after borrowing the equivalent of $100 from Parwaz, a local microfinance institution.
