The New York Post profiled the popularity of having posses with celebrities. Butter owner Richie Akiva says the posse keeps the “random people” away when you’re clubbing. “Celebrities don’t want people coming up to them,” Akiva said. “They don’t want to make new friends.” There does seem to be a few exceptions though, including a star of *NSYNC. “Now Joey Fatone – he’s a real man of the people,” says Suede’s Eytan Sugerman. “But I wouldn’t blame him if he wanted a couple of security guards.”
