Justin, Christina — Grown Up But Maturing
Jon Bream of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reviewed the Justified and Stripped Tour, which ended Tuesday night (September 2) at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Bream says of Christina Aguilera’s performance: “While Aguilera preaches female empowerment in her lyrics, she pranced around in suggestive male-fantasy outfits that were probably the nightmare of many of the mothers who brought their daughters to Xcel. At times, her voice was as distracting as her outfits. She has undeniably powerful pipes, but she overdid the vocal gymnastics on Etta James’ ‘At Last’ and ‘The Voice Within’.” As for *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake, he remarked, “Timberlake impressed as a confident, natural performer who moves without thinking about it. Sure, many of the moves were choreographed (often in unison with eight dancers) but he’s like watching an old Fred Astaire movie recast into a hip-hop/soul arena extravaganza.”
