Justin Timberlake Hollow, Christina Aguilera Herself
Dan Aquilante of the New York Daily News was on hand at Nassau Coliseum where *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera performed on Monday (August 18). Aquilante says, “The kids at the Uniondale, L.I., show would tell you Justin was terrific. But compared with his performance last Wednesday at an after-midnight Irving Plaza showcase, the Coliseum concert was a hollow, plastic symphony in schmaltz, replete with gadgets, gizmos and stage shenanigans.” As for Aguilera, he says, “Despite her annoying fake laugh, her wandering stage patter – and a wardrobe even Cher would reject – the diminutive singer was herself at this performance. She didn’t try to be the blond pop genie in a bottle. Instead, she educated her fans with a couple of ballads made famous by Etta James.”
