*NSYNC star Justin Timberlake and his ‘American Idol’ spoof is on Extra TV in case you missed it on Monday’s Teen Choice Awards. Justin moved on to Hollywood by stand-in judges from Mad TV and Carmen Electra playing Paula Abdul.

Contestants Plot Songs & Look For ‘American Idol’

August 19, 2002 – Entertainment Tonight reports Tuesday’s ‘American Idol’ episode will feature hits from the ’80s and ’90s. Sources tell E.T. that each contestant will perform two songs on tomorrow’s Fox telecast. Tamyra plans to make the Patti Labelle hit, ‘New Attitude,’ one of her choices, while Kelly is said to be considering ‘It’s Raining Men.’ And Nikki may have a new look. She’s thinking about flipping her hair color, moving the red to the back and going blond in front.

RJ Helton Sounds Relieved To Get ‘American Idol’ Boot

August 17, 2002 – The Atlanta Journal-Constitution spoke with ousted ‘American Idol’ and local resident RJ Helton on what he thought about getting the boot on Wednesday. “I’m excited about doing my own thing now,” Helton said. “I’ve gotten to live my dream out and sing for people and touch people. That’s my goal. Not to be famous or rich.” As for Simon Cowell’s constant criticism? “When you get put down so much, you don’t want to hear it anymore,” Helton said. “Simon said the same boring thing week after week.”
