Justin Timberlake and host Jimmy Kimmel had the following exchange when the *NSYNC star was introduced at Sunday night’s American Music Awards:
Jimmy: Now to Cologne, Germany where Justin Timberlake is reading
a magazine. What are you reading there?
Justin: I was catching up on my Mickey Mouse trivia.
Jimmy: A little synergy there. You have met any girls in Germany?
Justin: No, no, I just got here, actually, Jimmy.
Jimmy: All right. There is still time. Do you feel blacker in Germany?
Justin: Yes. Definitely.
Jimmy: We’ll hear from Justin later in the program.
And later, when Timberlake won Favorite Pop/Rock Album, he said in his acceptance speech:
“I’m on? Oh, thank you everybody in America. I’m homesick and this award makes it all worth while being over here. I’m not going to thank God because Jimmy said it was a no-no. I thank my manager Johnny and Jive Records and my mom and dad and me. Thanks, you guys have a great show.” Later, Justin introduced Outkast, saying, “They’re my favorite act, and they’ve made one of the best albums of the year.”
